Charles Academy was established in June 1969 and is under the direction of Thomas LaMont. The school has 4,400 square feet of floor space. The classroom is equipped with desk, chairs, blackboard, TV, VCR and other visual aids. The clinic area is equipped with shampoo bowls, shampoo chairs, styling chairs, dryers and mirror stations. The school offers lockers for student use. Floor space and equipment meet the specifications of the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering.

The school does not discriminate on the basis of sex, age, race, ethnic origin or religion. Charles Academy is governed by the Alabama board of Cosmetology and Barbering located at: 100N. Union Street, Suite 320, Montgomery, Alabama 36130.

The school is on a cycle enrollment basis. Students may begin classes on the second Tuesday of every month following completion of admission requirements. We do not have housing facilities. Students must provide the same at their own expense.

The school is closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Joe Cain Monday, Mardi Gras Day, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Holiday schedules may vary along with other required closings. However, the students will be informed in advance. In the event the school is closed for a day unexpectedly, the staff will attempt to contact students with information regarding the closing.

We offer courses in Basic Cosmetology and Instructor Training.

Your education is an investment and too important to take lightly. No one can become proficient without regular attendance and hard work. It is of essential importance that you ignore the distractions and concentrate on school work for these few months of your life. You will never regret it!
